Sid Borenstein
Sid Borenstein, President & CEO of Hamilton Equity Partners, is also the founder of Sid Borenstein & Company, a CPA firm established in 1986, specializing in real estate syndication, finance and taxes. In addition, he has been an active principal in a wide variety of real estate investments since the late 1980’s, including office buildings, multi-family housing, shopping centers, hotels, industrial buildings, and nursing homes. Through Hamilton, Mr. Borenstein has been responsible for syndicating investor partnerships by creating harmonious groups to achieve profitable goals.
Shimmie Horn
Shimmie Horn, a principal founder of Hamilton Equity Partners, is a seasoned real estate investor and manager, acting as the proprietor of his family’s three generations hotel enterprise since 1994, expanding its holdings to include multi-family properties, commercial properties, and other real estate ventures. Mr. Horn is the co-owner of Triumph Hotels, a unique set of Manhattan boutique hotels, strategically situated around the city in popular locations. Mr. Horn holds a J.D. degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and currently serves on their Board of Directors.
Gerald Barad
Gerald Barad, a principal founder of Hamilton Equity Partners, is a veteran real estate owner since 1986. In 2014, Mr. Barad and his business partner Shimmie Horn united six iconic boutique properties to form the Triumph Hotels. Mr. Barad has been an active investor in commercial and multifamily residential real estate in New York City for over 40 years, maintaining interests in office buildings, hotels and residential apartments.
Joseph Katz
Joseph Katz, a founding partner of Hamilton Equity Partners and Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, utilizes his diverse history and expertise in the financial field to assist Hamilton with fund sourcing, acquisition financing and cash flow management. In the last five years, he has arranged over $500 million in financing for various real estate investments. Mr. Katz has investments in over 50 Brooklyn properties, and continues to focus on sourcing real estate deals within the five boroughs of New York City. He holds multiple long-standing relationships with large lenders and funding institutions, as well as local New York banks.
MANAGEMENT
Ronny Apfel
Ronny Apfel serves as Hamilton Equity Partners’ Chief Investment Officer, seeking investment opportunities, evaluating their viability, and vetting operators, bringing investment expertise and experience from his lengthy Wall Street career to further Hamilton’s development. In 1991, Mr. Apfel joined UBS as a managing director and built a global equity derivatives group built. He also managed an Index Arbitrage and Program Trading desk, ranking in the top three Wall Street firms, managing a portfolio of $25 billion. In 2010, Mr. Apfel began working for Triumph Hotels and currently serves as their Chief Financial Officer, managing the real estate portfolio with Mr. Horn and Mr. Barad, as well as the Barad and Horn families’ equities and real estate investments.
Michael Lefkowitz
Michael Lefkowitz joined Hamilton Equity Partners as Executive Vice President in 2014, performing property evaluations, lease structuring and compliance, and monitors tenant operation to ensure maximum value. After practicing tax law until 1989, Mr. Lefkowitz joined Edison Properties, LLC as General Counsel and a member of the Executive Committee. In 2001, Mr. Lefkowitz became a Principal of Caribbean Property Group, LLC (CPG), handling a multibillion-dollar portfolio of shopping centers, industrial and office buildings, as well as hotels across Central America. Mr. Lefkowitz received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Columbia University in 1981, his law degree from Stanford University in 1984, and an LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law in 1986.
Pinny Borenstein
Pinny Borenstein currently serves as the Director and Portfolio Manager of Hamilton Equity Partners, running the day to day operations. His main focus is creating partnerships with operators, and asset management . His responsibilities include maintaining investor relationships, as well as sourcing, vetting, and underwriting new deals. On a daily basis, Pinny works closely with the Hamilton founders to organize, oversee, and constantly improve a proactive approach to servicing existing partners and acquiring partnerships to drive new business. In addition to his role with Hamilton, Pinny is a founding partner of Hamilton EQ, an affiliate of Hamilton Equity Partners that manages a portfolio of Class A office buildings nationwide. His proficiency in financial analysis and asset management, along with his strong interpersonal skills, lend to the smooth operations of Hamilton Equity Partners. Mr. Borenstein holds an MS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University
Malkiel Svei
Malkiel Svei, Portfolio Strategist of Hamilton Equity Partners, has over twenty year's experience working on high level real estate transactions. He has a proven track record for increasing occupancy and repositioning assets. Mr. Svei has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Baruch College in New York City.
